Julia Phillips, Dietitian

Julia Phillips, Dietitian

Bachelor of Science (Nutrition and Exercise Science)
Masters of Science (Nutrition, Dietetics and Exercise Rehabilitation)
University of Wollongong

Julia joined the SS Diets team in late 2020 and is keen to explore dietetics outside the acute care (hospital) setting. Julia is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with over 13 years of experience in Clinical Dietetics.

After graduating university Julia started her career at St George Hospital and never left. She is now a senior dietitian and regularly mentors both student and newly graduated dietitians (including our very own Penny, many moons ago!) through the University of Wollongong, where she is a regular guest lecturer, supporting final year students in their studies.

After being at St George for so long there is nothing she hasn’t seen. From paediatrics to geriatrics, ICU to rehabilitation units, Julia has supported the nutrition management of acute patients across the complexity of acute care.

She has a strong ethic towards preventative therapy, healthy lifestyle behaviours for general health and well-being, as well as having some further training in sports dietetics.  She has a particular focus on simplifying the craziness of nutrition messages and only provides advice based on research (scientific research, not ‘google’ research).

With an active family, you will often find Julia watching her daughter Airlie, or partner Kaine, in their various sports, or playing hockey herself to keep fit.
